Earn Money in Google Adsense Without A Website

When you apply for a Google Adsense account, you also include your website as it is a one of the requirements for approval. Once approved, you can now put Adsense ads on your website and get paid for clicks or impressions on the ads. However, we cannot always predict the future.

What if your site needs maintenance and must be closed down temporarily for a few days, weeks or even months? Or in worst case, you will have to shut it down permanently for your own reason? If you've got no site running, you will also have zero income in your Adsense account. However, it's different this time.

You can now earn in Google Adsense even if you don't have an active website. This idea (or whatever you may call it) is called Adsense Revenue Sharing. I don't know who started this idea but I knew first this concept at DigitalPoint Forums.

Details & Process Adsense Revenue Sharing is a way where you can have a chance to display your Adsense ads on another websites. These websites that allow you to display your Adsense ads are mostly community websites, thus, you contribute contents and get percentage for your ads to show. The process are pretty simple, let's generalize it this way:

1. You must have already a Google Adsense account before you can participate. 2. Sign-up on websites (listed below) and put your Adsense ID (or even a custom Channel). Please see individual details on the sites you want to join on how to do this. 3. Contribute contents, i.e. create/participate a forum thread, submit articles, submit videos and among others.

Each time your submitted content viewed, you have a chance that your Adsense ads will show on that particular content and get paid if there's someone that clicks on the ads.

Pros and Cons With Adsense Revenue Sharing, you don't need to have an active website to earn (take note that you need to have an active website when you apply for a Google Adsense account). Second advantage of this concept is you don't have to promote the websites in which you put your Adsense ID to, the owners/administrators will responsible for this one. Last advantage of Adsense Revenue Sharing is that most of the websites that offer this opportunity have high traffic.

However, there are also a couple of disadvantages. First, you must contribute content to the website, no contribution - no earnings. Second, you will not earn 100% of the clicks since you only have a certain percentage to show your ads, therefore, expect a very low earnings. Also, there are some sites that has contribution restrictions, i.e. you need to have at least 100 post before you are eligible to participate the revenue sharing.

Adsense Revenue Sharing Sites Listed below are some of the sites that offers Adsense Revenue Sharing. Out of the lists below, I only joined DigitalPoint (but not for this purpose), thus it is at your own risk and responsibility if you join them.

You Should Not There are also a couple of sites that have Adsense Revenue Sharing but thier method makes the concept void. Let's take for example a free blog hosting site, say call it an ABCDEF Free Blog Hosting. At ABCDEF, they stated that your Adsense will have a chance to display on the blogs that you created. Where's the logic there? You created and write your own blog (but the thing is you are hosted from them) and then let them have their Adsense ads displayed on your blog, NO WAY!!! Avoid these things if ever you meet something like these. If you can't afford to buy your own host, then just join Blogger where you have the total control on your Adsense ads.

How to Make Money with Google AdSense

Five things you should know to make money with AdSense

Google AdSense can be a very effective way to make money online, but if it's your intention to make money with AdSense, it helps to get educated on how to do it successfully and sustain the earnings over a long period of time.

Place Ads Where People Will See Them

We've all heard this about real estate. Location. Location. Location. With Adsense the same is true. Place ads in locations where people will see them. Usually the best spots to place ads are at the top of the page and in the content. The ads should be formatted to complement the content of your site. However, getting the placement and formatting of AdSense ads optimized doesn't guarantee success. You'll have to do more. Keep reading.

Select Topics with Many Advertisers

AdSense matches ads to the content of your pages. So, the simplest thing to do is to create content where AdSense has existing advertisers to place on your pages. In general, the more advertisers there are to match to your content, the more money you will make and the better liquidity you will see so that your earnings fluctuate less. AdSense typically places the most valuable ads in the order the page loads. Generally, this means that the ads at the top of the page will pay more when clicked than the ads at the bottom of the page, but it stands to reason for sites that place three AdSense ads on a page, that if there are more advertisers, the fill rate of each spot will be higher and the amount earned with each ad spot will drop less if there is substantial competition among advertisers.

Understand Who Clicks on Ads and Where They Come From

If you are hoping to make money from AdSense, you'll have to attract people that click on ads. Did you know that people that begin their search on AOL and ASK are among the most likely to click on ads and on HubPages, they generate some of the highest CPMs. They are 210% more likely to click on ads than the average visitor to the site and generate CPMs 312% more than the average source of traffic. The trick is to understand the demographics of their site so you can create content that they will search for - Quantcast shows it has women with kids, higher income and less college education.

Create Content that Lasts

I've written before about evergreen content. It's very important to an AdSense centric monetization strategy for two reasons. First, related to what I just covered, search engine traffic generates the most people that click on ads, and second, each piece of content is like putting a little money in the bank that will generate the equivalent of interest on a bank account. Each month you get a dividend because the content is relevant for a long period of time. When the article is nolonger relevant, this is like emptying your bank account and seeing the dividends stop. You want to create content that will endure and pay dividends for years to come.

Lessons Learned with AdSense

We've seen thousands of publishers try and earn money with AdSense and the many mistakes they make.

The top three mistakes

  1. They create spam content to trick search engines. While this can be lucrative in the short run, it doesn't last. This includes very short articles where the ad is the only thing to click on, to writing articles about something that is solely designed to get traffic from search engines (stuffing keywords in to the page, hiding links, linking to a page with misleading anchor text - just a few tricks we see)
  2. Some of the most well intentioned and helpful people struggle to understand how to write content for search engines and therefore never get traffic or make money.
  3. They focus on getting traffic that doesn't convert well with AdSense. I mentioned that AOL is some of the best performing, but StumbleUpon and Digg is among the worst. There is value in getting traffic from these sites that will indirectly help your AdSense earnings, but focusing for the quick burst of traffic won't translate to AdSense revenue quickly.
  4. I'll add a fourth mistake. People need to study their analytics. Did you know that Google Analytics is integrated with AdSense? You can study your users, what they search for to land on your site and how much each visitor is worth. Doing this will help you learn more quickly on what's working for you.

Three ways to start making money online without fees

Since Blogger attracts so many people that are trying to figure out how to make money online, I thought I'd put together the basics. This is only intended to be a starting point for each of the ideas. To actually make them work, it will require more learning and individual experimentation.

Sharing Information and AdSense.

The Product

The product is written articles that get traffic from search engines. In order to be successful, the content you produce should be on evergreen topics that people search for on Google or other major search engines. The key to success here is high quality information. Like making anything that is great, it takes a lot of work to create a high quality piece of content that is worthy of ranking high in google for competitive search terms.

How You Make Money

You make money from AdSense. AdSense places ads that match the content of your writing. Advertisers like placing ads through AdSense since they are so highly targeted. Users will click on the ads if they are interested in them. The amount of money you can make depends on the topic. Commercial topics tend to pay more and within commercial topics, categories like finance are among the top earning. I suggest worrying less about the category and focus on areas that you can create the best piece of content on in the world.

Challenges

When you are just starting out with articles and AdSense it takes time to gain traffic. Then, it's usually between .5% and 4% of people that will click on ads. So, earnings can be very small at the beginning. Secondly, you never know how much traffic a piece of content will get. Rarely do we see someone make a hit with their first post. Instead, they will make a few posts that get zero traffic and then they will make one that does well. After they have one good producing posts, they are able to see the pattern and create more, but this takes time. I say it usually takes 30 posts before they get a reasonable amount of traffic if they have created high quality content and focused on niche search phrases. This upfront time investment can be daunting when you don't see results. Getting through this dark period is the major challenge.

Why I like it

I don't just like this model, I love it. I love it so much I helped create Nairahub. Here's why. First, there are no fees when starting. It just takes time. And if you like learning it's a double bonus, because you will learn a lot about how the internet works. My second favorite part is once you figure out how to create content that gets traffic and monetizes well that each piece of content you create is like putting money in the bank. Every month it will earn money and as long as the information is current, it will continue to produce. Third, I love that you don't have to deal with inventory (no products to order and ship, no returns, no bad debt) and you have total flexibility when you work. Want to work in a cafe, great. Want to work from home fine. It's up to you. Lastly, you don't have to sell your friends, or push a product that you don't believe in. You can write about things you love. Things you are passionate about. And. Things that help people. It's up to you to be successful. If you create quality content over time, you will earn money.

Afflliate Marketing and Lead Generation

The Product

The product can be a website, an email newsletter, or even a blog that promotes a product for a commission or collects information to generate a lead. Examples could be promoting a clickbank offer, selling an item on eBay (to earn a commission), or hosting a loan capture form.

How You Make Money

You make money based on an action. For example, if you use an affiliate link to promote an eBay product and someone purchases the product, then you will earn a commission. The commission is dependent upon how much money the item sold costs. It's pretty common for more expensive items to pay higher commissions. Lead generation is similar, accept in this case the action is getting someone to submit their personal information. For example, you can become a Leadpoint affiliate and get people to submit their information to refinance their house. Every-time someone fills out the form (with accurate information) you earn a commission for the lead. Mortgage leads can be well over $100 per lead, so it can be quite lucrative if you can generate the leads.

Challenges

Affiliate marketing and lead generation is very hard work. Most of the attractive categories like new car leads, and mortgages are filled with very experienced marketers that makes it hard to compete with them. The trick is to acquire the traffic at a rate that costs less than the commissions earned. Since you only get paid for an action, as apposed to AdSense (paid per click) it can take much more traffic to earn anything. Although, it's likely that the lump affiliate commission is worth several AdSense clicks. The other challenge is that many affiliate offers prey on other people. It's hard for me to get too excited about someone pushing an eBook that is garbage or tricking someone to fill out a form.

Why I like it

When done tastefully, affiliate and lead generation can be an excellent way to monetize traffic at premium rates. This happens when good quality traffic is matched to an offer or to a lead form. When everything is on the up and up, the person making the purchase or filling out the form is satisfied and the publisher can make a nice commission for brokering the deal.

Ecommerce: Selling Goods Online

The Product

This can be anything you can sell and deliver. The big difference here is that you have to deliver the good. There are types of products that I think are better for selling online. First, if you can resell high margin products that are small and easy to ship like expensive watches, jewelry or fashion items. Second is something you make. This could be holiday candy, knitted hats, or a product that you figure out how to manufacture. The key is to sell products with significant margins and a market available that can move them.

How You Make Money

You make money when a product is sold. The amount of money you make is dependent upon many variables that are common to running a store, but hopefully the listing fees are less than a store's rent.

Challenges

Retailing is challenging. It can be extremely difficult to become a wholesaleor of brandname products online. If you do get the product, then you have to pay for the inventory. When you take on inventory, you take on risk if you can actually sell the products. Some manufacturers will give you credit, but you still have to sell the products. Then. You have to deal with returns, customers and in many cases stiff competition on price. Internet shoppers love to find the lowest price. But, the lowest price can eat away all the profits for a small seller.

Why I like it

I believe that there is huge opportunity for small retailers online and it's perhaps the easiest way to make money online. You can simply go into your house. Find five items that are worth over $25 and list them for free on Craigslist. I bet that you will sell at least one of those items in a few days. When you sell things, Craigslist is a great way to be part of a marketplace for free. There is no other marketplace in the world that has high quaility buyers and costs nothing to put up your goods for sale. Craigslist is great for many types of items, but not all. However, eBay, Amazon and having your own online store fill the gaps, although they cost more to list. For people that can get access to high margin products, or make their own goods with great margins, then selling online could be just the ticket for you.
